As the new year kicks off, the man behind the Devil May Cry series (2-4) and Dragon’s Dogma is ready to provide an update on his mystery project that was supposed to be revealed in 2017 but never did.
Many believed that this might have been a new entry in the Devil May Cry franchise. A Devil May Cry 5 if you would like to call it , but for the time being we are still in the dark.
Hideaki Itsuno apologized to fans via Twitter for not showing off his newest project (currently in development) in 2017 and about the current status of the game.
“Happy new year! I am sorry that I can not present a new project last year. The development of the project is now under climax. I am making a great game so please expect it.”
The game was first announced on the last new year’s eve (2017) via Twitter and it got a lot of fans hyped up, it was expected to make an appearance at E3 2017. This is why Itsuno has now updated fans by apologizing and saying that the development is progressing smoothly. He stated that we should definitely expect an announcement this year.
The timing of the announcement of the Devil May Cry HD Collection for the PlayStation 4 sparked a lot of curiosity for a brand new game in the series but no official announcement ever came. There was a certain Devil May Cry 5 leak along with significant details about the game, so we might be getting some official confirmations this year for that (or they might not have been true at all).
As of yet, there is no official release date or even an official announcement for Devil May Cry 5 so we’ll have to wait and see. Let us know if you’re excited for Hideaki’s latest project in the comments section below and stay tuned for more!
