Destiny 2 is amongst the biggest releases of this calendar year. However some features will not be making a comeback
A feature from the original game which isn’t going to be included in Destiny 2 is of Grimoire Cards; these were used as elements for the store and were a feature which were deemed irrelevant by most in the Destiny community
Grimoire Cards were given to players when they would complete certain actions and as they would be able to increase the amount of the gained experience or the type of item drops, they were created to basically flesh out the interesting but shallow mythology of Destiny. One issue with these cards was that all of them were available to be read online which makes their in-game application pointless until and unless you are a perfectionist.
Now, Bungie has taken a different approach with Destiny 2 which could just be a stronger, deeper, and a more engaging narrative. The world lead at Bungie, Steve Cotton, spoke to Forbes recently about this change and he confirmed that the Grimoire Cards have only been eliminated in order to bring more details and structure in the game and its storytelling framework.
“The answer to that question [about Grimoire Cards returning] is ‘no’ and the reason it’s ‘no’ is because we want to put the lore in the game,” said Cotton upon being questioned about the Cards. He even explained that the team preferred people to be able to find the lore and that the story of Destiny 2 was told through adventures, “it’s told through the characters in the world, it’s told through the campaign, and it’s told through scannables you find throughout the world.”
The initial game, Destiny, had struggled a lot among critics back in the end of 2014 when it was released. Activision had hyped the game as the next best and big thing, however, the campaign was shallow and it was not a difficult game to recommend. With the passage of the years as well as with expansions including the releases of The Taken King, the game Destiny turned out to be a superb online shooter, with a lore shouting out to be told and expanded. The news that Bungie is searching ways on expanding Destiny is good especially since they’re considering room for improvement.
The game will be out in stores for Xbox One and PS4 by the 8th of September 2017. The PC version does not have a release date as of yet. Stay updated on our website for more info.
