Cyberpunk 2077 Is Expected To Rake In Much More Than Witcher 3; Development Costs Are Higher Too

CD Projekt RED are in the eyes of everybody ever since they came out with arguably one of the best RPG of all time! The Witcher 3 was an absolute masterpiece in what it delivered along with two of the most amazing DLCs one can find on the market today. This is the reason why most fans are eagerly waiting for the next project that these developers are going to deliver, Cyberpunk 2077 has been in development even before The Witcher 3. The game takes after the popular tabletop game of the same name.

The devs have made it clear that they are going all out with this one too as they recently talked to Polish outlet Puls Biznesu about it. Adam Kiciński of CDPR stated that the budget for this one will be even higher than what The Witcher 3 cost in development, which means that it will cost well over $85 million (which is what The Witcher 3 took while it was being made). Cyperpunk will have more marketing finances too which will take up for more than half of the base production costs, similar to The Witcher (it cost $25 million to produce).

Apart from the development costs being higher, the studio also expects sales to be directly proportional to the increase. Kiciński believes that the game has more sales potential to it, and he’s not wrong either. The Witcher 3 managed to sell 6 million copies so it’s onlyl fair that a game of higher caliber (we hope) is going to rake in much more money. Only time can tell whether that will be so.

A Cyberpunk 2077 which is bigger in scale than The Witcher 3 sounds like a mouth watering concept, and it remains to be seen how the game pans out once it is released sometime in the near future.
