Activision have just released reports that their recent remaster of the Crash Bandicoot games, the Crash Bandicoot N.Sane Trilogy, was the best selling game worldwide in the month of June! Not only that but the game achieved this record in only 2 days. The game was launched in most parts of the world a bit late into the month but it took home the title in the monthly and weekly charts too! It has been top of the charts in the UK for two straight weeks and was the biggest launch of the year on a single platform (PS4).
“The fan response to Crash Bandicoot N. Sane Trilogy has been tremendous with the title landing at number one worldwide in physical game sales, even though it was only on shelves for two days in June. We’re thrilled that there seems to be a whole lot of people out there who love Crash as much we do.”, This is what Activision CEO, Eric Hirshberg, had to say about the amazing response the trilogy had received.
This success for the remastered PS1 classic comes because of the huge appeal to an older audience along with players who are playing the game for the first time. The nostalgia factor is high as Crash was an amazing game for it’s time, it was due to be popular again if it ever got a remaster. The trilogy is being praised by many critics to be a great remaster with amazing visuals (recreated entirely) and animations.
The game has also received a free level as DLC, a level which was cut from the original game on the PS1 to be very difficult. The level was left hidden in the original Crash and was found by people in the game data, the developers did not have time to fix it so they did not make it accessible but it is now here for the N.Sane Trilogy and it is harder than ever!
If you’re feeling nostalgic about the good old days, go ahead and get the N.Sane Trilogy if you haven’t yet from the PSN Store. Stay tuned for more!
