Bad news for Xbox fans: Microsoft has just announced that they are delaying Crackdown 3, as they believe the game is not yet ready for release and needs more time in development. The highly anticipated Xbox One exclusive was schedules for release this Novmeber, but it seems Microsoft miscalculated the games launch window.
Crackdown 3 has been one of the most highly anticipated games of this year. The game will hopefully breathe new life into the Xbox One and it’s lackluster library of exclusives, and bring the Crackdown franchise back to it’s former glory after Crackdown 2’s lukewarm reception. Crackdown 3 will offer a whole open city for players to explore with destructible environments, a feature that was flaunted back when the game was revealed at E3 2014.
Crackdown 3’s delay announcement comes right after Red Dead Redemption 2’s delay. Rockstar’s open world game set in the Wild West was supposed to come out this year as well, but was pushed back to Spring of 2018.
Microsoft hasn’t come out with an official reason for the games delay, but they have said that the game is a very ambitious project, hence they want to give the developers more time and space to perfect it. Many fans of the series will undoubtedly be upset to hear this news, but will hopefully pay of in the long run with a more polished product. Lets hope that is indeed the case , because as it stands the Xbox One exclusives library is threadbare to say the very least
Crackdown 3’s delay also means that it will be spared from competing with all the other AAA titles coming out fall of this year, including big names like Battlefront 2, Call of Duty WWII, Cuphead, Forza Motorsport 7. Middle Earth: Shadow of War, Destiny 2, Xbox’s version of PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds, Assassins Creed: Origins, Super Lucky’s Tale and Forza Motorsport 7.
