MMA Champion Conor McGregor is ready to swap space in Call of Duty: Infinite Warefare for a role in Westeros on HBO’s hit fantasy drama Game of Thrones.
McGregor has recently been heavily linked to a part on the but now there seems to be some sort of confirmation with UFC president Dana White confirming that the fighter was set to make a cameo in the upcoming season 7 of Game of Thrones. During a live interview on Fox Sports Live White stated that he was aware the Game of Thrones executives were eyeing McGregor about a potential role and were in discussions with the fighter, but he didn’t know that McGregor had accepted until just recently.
“I knew that a few months ago they were interested in putting him in the show,” White said. “I’m glad he did it. It’ll be great.”
White didn’t reveal what role McGregor would be playing, but Watchers On The Wall , the top source for everything Game Of Thrones, have reported that McGregor will be a “pirate belonging to Euron Greyjoy’s crew, on the ship Silence.”
Lots of people have had their reservations regarding McGregor’s potential involvement in Game Of Thrones with many questioning the actors credentials for the role. But they will be relieved to hear that the role is only a non-speaking minor cameo. This is McGregor’s first acting gig, either. He also leant his voice acting talents to Activision earlier this year for Call of Duty: Infinite Warfare. He’s also provided voice acting for EA Sports UFC 2, in which he played himself. Besides this isn’t the first celebrity cameo in Game of Thrones. Coldplay drummer Will Champion previously also had a cameo in Game of Thrones as he played a drummer at the Red Wedding in the infamous Rains of Castemere episode.
Game of Thrones is set to return with season 7 in June 2017.
