After recently banning around 20,000 players in South Korea who were allegedly hacking the game via third party programs to gain the upper hand, Overwatch developer Blizzard has also issued a warning to its PS4 and Xbox One players who use a keyboard and mouse to play the game.

While not threatened directly with a ban , the game’s director disapproves of the tactic of using a keyboard and a mouse on a console. Here is what he had to say regarding the matter.

The Overwatch team objects to the use of mouse and keyboard on console.

We have contacted both first-party console manufacturers and expressed our concern about the use of mouse and keyboard and input conversion devices.

We have lobbied and will continue to lobby for first-party console manufacturers to either:

Disallow mouse and keyboard and input conversion devices

OR

Openly and easily support mouse and keyboard for ALL players

I encourage you to reach out to the hardware manufacturers and express your concerns (but please do so in a productive and respectful way).

However opinion remains divided amongst the fans with one fan stating that FPS (First Person Shooters ) are not even made for consoles , and to enjoy the full experience of the game you need key board and mouse support.

Just in case you don’t get why this is a big deal. A keyboard and a mouse in a shooter makes aiming a lot faster and precise than a controller. Hence players who are using the keyboard and mouse are  gaining an advantage over the ones which are using a controller, and even though its not exactly cheating it does constitute as an unfair advantage.

So what do you think should a keyboard and mouse support be allowed for Overwatch’s console gamers. Let us know by commenting in the comments section below.

xbox/ps4 should really add the support and then give developers the power to see who’s playing how and create playlist for both users. Playlist for both users. A: playlist that only allows controllers and B: playlist that allows both
