Over 13.2 million people have had a taste of Battlefield 1’s open beta, meaning it is the largest beta ever in EA history. The total number displays players spread across all three platforms on which the beta was available: PlayStation 4, Windows PC and Xbox One. The beta ran for a total of 10 days, from lasting form 30th Aug to 8th Sept.
EA released an infographic with some statistics for the beta. The most popular class deployed was Assault which was the preference of 30 percent of players, It was closely pursued by the Scout class which had 28 percent, Support class managed 21 percent, and finally the Medic class was the choice of 10 percent.
Some other interesting statistics show 28.9 million melee kills, 13 million kills scored by armored train, and 62.2 million kills while on horseback.
Battlefield 1’s open beta smashed Star Wars Battlefront’s EA record which attracted over 9 million players last October. It may even be the largest beta overall, overtaking the likes of;
- Overwatch (9.7 million players) Blizzard Entertainment
- Tom Clancy’s The Division (6.4 million players) Ubisoft
- Destiny (4.6 million players) Activision
Although EA hasn’t provided any confirmation. Activision claimed last Augusts’ multiplayer beta for Call of Duty: Black Ops 3 was the biggest in PS4 history but failed to reveal any player counts for that particular platform or for any other.
With little over five weeks to go until Battlefield 1hits the shelves, developer EA DICE is using player feedback collected through the beta and incorporating it in the final version of the game. An example being senior producer Aleksandar Grøndal, who stated that the studio will nerf the light tank.
Battlefield 1 comes out for PC, PS4, and Xbox One on October 21. People who pre-order the Early Enlister Deluxe Edition play three days earlier than everyone else, It is available for $79.99.
