Xbox One has been known for it’s extremely amazing backwards compatibility feature and Microsoft just knows how important it is. Playing Xbox 360 games on a next-gen console is just such a pleasant option for people who want to replay the classics that graced the last generation of consoles. If you own these gems digitally or on physical, you can play them on your Xbox One (only if it’s in the list of backwards compatible games though). The list of backwards compatible games has been growing a lot lately and the Xbox Boss, Phil Spencer, recently stated how important this feature is for the Xbox One.
He said that the feature is important for the preservation of older titles for a brand new audience which never had the chance to experience them. It is also a very beneficial business plan for developers to resell older games on a brand new console.
“I see games as an art form,…Console games can get lost when hardware generations go away. It can become more challenging to play the games of our past,…There’s something to be learned from experiencing what I played as a kid. There’s good business there for the content owners, but as players, it’s nice to be able to understand how our artform has progressed.”, This is what Phil Spencer had to say about it.
The Xbox One backwards compatibility list currently has more than 400 Xbox 360 titles that can be played on an Xbox One and that list has been growing frequently. These games include a lot of diverse titles such as the recent addition of 4 Halo Games, along with Red Dead Redemption and older Call of Duty titles as well. The entire list has a lot of amazing last-gen games if skimmed through.
