It appears as if Mass Effect Andromeda will be a standalone game,as the developer BioWare have already made a statement that the new game is not a part of a new trilogy and features a self contained story arc.
Mac Walters recently suggested on Twitter that BioWare is planning for “future adventures” in the gaming industry.
To be clear. Just because #Andromeda isn't start of a trilogy, doesn't mean we haven't been planning for future adventures. Just not 3 acts.

While we may not ever set our eyes upon Andromeda 2, it will be interesting to see what Bioware has in store for us.
“At the end of this, we want it to feel like a story has completed. Yes, for the universe, there’s much more you could explore, and we want to tease that, but it feels like its own story. It’s like, ‘Great. I had my Ryder sibling becoming-a- hero story. What’s next? Is it going to be Ryder? Is it going to be something else? Who knows?'”
Andromeda will hit shelves in the beginning of 2017, and bring with it a large number of changes to the Mass Effect establishment including huge upgrades to battle, classes, and the way journeys and situations are organized.T he players will take control of either a male or a female protagonist who are actually siblings and the offspring of Alec Ryder an N7 special forces soldier and designated pathfinder. The game takes place in the Andromeda galaxy and is set nearly 600 years after the events of the original Mass Effect trilogy.
A release date is not yet known , but it is expexted that the game will hit the shelves sometime around the second quarter of 2017
