Last night EA announced another exciting game at their E3 Showcase, EA Play. Called A Way Out, the game is being released by EA and Josef Fares, the creator of Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons. The game is unique in the way that it has mandatory co-op, and can only be played in split-screen.
A Way Out is a story driven, co-op game revolving around a prison break, and will feature action, driving and lots more, announced Josef Fares on-stage yesterday. “I wanted to make another game that pushed the boundaries on how to tell stories without compromising on gameplay”, he said. The two playable characters in the game are Leo and Vincent. Their stories will go on simultaneously, to the point that even if one player is in a cutscene, the other will still be able to control their character.
The game will have online multiplayer coop, but according to Fares the idea is for people to play the together in split-screen on their couches. At first glance the game looks a lot like Prison Break , except perhaps the tone of the game is a bit lighter than the TV Show.
A Way Out is being developed by Fares’ new studio, Hazelight, and will launch in early 2018.Its one of those games that makes you sit up and take notice and for me was the stand out of the entire conference. Stay tuned for more news regarding E3 2017.
