The boys at Curved/labs came up with a pretty interesting concept for the next gen console, PlayStation Switch, which they are calling PlayMan.
The firm described that the PlayMan will function as a successor to the PS Vita and toils as a hybrid handheld-console similar to the Nintendo that was released earlier this year and witnessed a lot of success. On the other hand, the PS Switch variation has seen some tweaks to the design of Nintendo’s which likely gave the edge over House of Mario. Here’s what Curved/labs has to say:
“The Playman won’t be used in just two modes – handheld or TV docking station – but offers three possible fields of use. The device can either be connected to the TV via HDMI or, with attached controllers, be used as a handheld console. But furthermore a large, fully adjustable and above all robust joint allows for a comfortable solution to play while being out and about, without having to suffer from tired arms from holding up the weight of the whole handheld console.”
The console is equipped with a huge screen and two DualShock controller halves that will be hooked up to the screen or connected to a touchpad. Here’s a video for more details:
Intriguingly, this is not the first time that we are seeing something similar to the PS Switch. In the beginning of this year, there were rumors that Sony was working on a PS Vita 2 after a patent application came to be similar to that of the latest console of Nintendo.
Seems like an extremely interesting proposition, and it remains to be seen if this ever comes out of its idea phase and actually onto the production lines.Let us know what do you think about this hybrid by commenting in the comments section below.
