The faces of Wolfsbane and Magik have seemingly been confirmed for the upcoming X-Men spinoff New Mutants.
New Mutants has two actors on board with them officially now and seems to be now moving forward and we may see a release sooner than we might have expected.
As per The Hollywood Reporter, the two actors that have joined the X-Men spinoff is Maisie Williams (Game of Thrones) and Anya Taylor –Joy (Split). The director of the movie is Josh Boone who had worked on The Fault in Our Stars and the production on the movie is going to begin in July, later this year.
The film is going to include teenage characters such as Moonstar, Wolfsbane, Sunspot, Cannonball, Magik and Warlock. Wolfsbane is going to be played by Williams and the character is basically striving to ‘reconcile her religious beliefs with her power to turn into a wolf’. Magik is played by Taylor-Joy who is the sister of Colossus with powers of teleportation.
Reports suggest that the film is going to be a retreat from the traditional superhero action X-Men movies to being a ‘teen horror movie’. This kind of puts light into the comment that was made by previous producer of X-Men Simon Kinberg mentioning that the movie is going to have ‘its own unique, original voice’.
Although, it is a known fact that the New Mutants, as per comics, are a group of teenaged mutant superheroes that are currently in training , however a change of scenery and the teen horror movie background would be for a lack of a better word interesting.
In December 2016, an animatic of a possible action sequence from the film was released which was confirmed of its originality.
